Colorful renders of the upcoming Huawei P50 hits the internet

Huawei P50 series has made headlines in the smartphone industry but not for the best of reasons. The series has already been delayed. That being said, realistic-looking renders of the vanilla P50 are gaining a lot of attention on the internet as of late. In this post, we will be talking about these new renders of the Huawei P50 and all the existing rumors and leaks surrounding the phone.

Huawei P50 Rumors Roundup

The latest renders

The latest renders of the Huawei P50 that is circulating on the internet is the work of Waqar Khan. These are based on the schematics that were leaked towards the end of last month. The schematics came from a patent that Huawei filed back in January.

The most striking thing about the schematics/renders is the module for the rear camera. Huawei will join the likes of Xiaomi and Samsung as major smartphones brand to have redesigned the camera bump for their flagship offerings.

Here, the Huawei P50 will have a total of four cameras at the back divided into groups of two. Each group has its own circular module that rests on an elliptical surface. The LED flash resides on the elliptical surface outside of the two circular structures.

Rumored specs

The patent also supports OneLeaks’ claim that the device will feature a center-aligned punch-hole selfie cutout. Initial leak by OneLeaks suggested that the device will feature a 6.3-inch flat display which we assume will use an AMOLED panel. The total thickness will be 10.6mm with the camera bump and 8.3mm without it.

Rumors suggest that the P50 series will come with a yet-unannounced 1” Sony IMX800 sensor. It will be a successor to the IMX700 used in the P40 series and a rival to Samsung’s latest GM2 sensor. The upcoming Sony sensor will boast features like 50MP resolution and an RYYB filter.

The phone will have the Kirin 9000 under the hood and will come with Huawei’s own Harmony OS out-of-the-box. The phone will have a Type-C port and a speaker grille at the bottom. It won’t have an IR blaster that the Pro model will have.

Huawei P50 Series Launch Date (Expected)

Huawei usually reveals its P-series lineup in March. This year, the launch was delayed by April. However, the latest report suggests that we may not see the launch of the P50 series until May-June. This may be because Huawei is still struggling with the optimization of HarmonyOS.

Similarly, we expect Huawei to have very limited stocks of the P40 series because of the limited number of Kirin 9000 chipsets. Thus, it’s very unlikely for them to be available outside of China.
